Institute of Cell Therapy Presents Stem Cell Clinical Trials Results

A Ukrainian national football hero and trainer of the national team, Andriy Shevchenko, will participate in an upcoming Institute for Cell Therapy-sponsored event discussing stem cell therapy-based clinical trial results in the Ukraine. In partnership with the Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics of NAMs of Ukraine and Kiev Clinical Hospital #6, the December 3, 2019 event brings together clinical investigators focusing on prevalent diseases from knee joint arthrosis to join injuries with an emphasis on professional athletes via Mr. Shevchenko’s own experience with stem cell treatment.

Cell Therapy Gains Steam in the Ukraine

Cell therapy clinical research gains momentum worldwide and the Ukraine is no exception. Professional athletes are prominent figures in any modern society and in the Ukraine soccer is the favorite sport. Hence, Mr. Shevchenko knows something about the injuries and associated pain that comes with the position—such as knee arthrosis—which tends to afflict those with extreme loadings. Coupled with severe pain, often those afflicted can barely move.

Cell Therapy Clinical Trials: Knee Arthrosis

During this event, the Institute of Cell Therapy, in partnership with the Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics of NAMs of Ukraine and Kiev Clinical Hospital #6 will discuss the applicability of stem cell clinical research for knee arthrosis treatment in the quest to improve quality of life and reduce pain—and ultimately perhaps even postpone or even preclude the need for a knee surgery.

Ukrainian Cell Therapy Clinical Trials Updates

This Ukrainian research institution specializes in stem cell research and associated medical services—it maintains the Center of Science with a biobank containing placenta stem cells. The organization has completed a number of cell therapy-based clinical trials and has recently received approvals by the Ukrainian Ministry of Health to use a tested stem cell product for manufacturing and application for the treatment of pancreonecrosis as well as disorders of lower limbs peripheral arteries with the umbilical cord blood stem cells and autologous adipose tissue.

Presently the Institute of Cell Therapy is conducting four (4) late stage cell-and tissue-based stem cell clinical trials at the final stages (e.g. Phase III) and another four (4) trials ongoing.

The Participating Organizations

Founded in 2003, the Institute of Cell Therapy is company that specializes in research and medical activities including: The Cell Therapy Clinic, the Center of Science (an R&D center) and a Placenta Stem Cell Laboratory, Cryobank and TilaClinic—an innovative clinic in the field of regenerative and anti-aging medicine. They share permits and licenses; however, their only English-language translation was for their ISO 9001:2015 certification valid till October 26, 2020.

The Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics of NAMs of Ukraine has been in operation for 100 years according to its website. A public academic medical institution, it is well known in Eastern Europe for research and pragmatic achievements in the theory of reparative osteogenesis, inflammatory and degenerative diseases of joints, denervation and re-innervation processes in muscles, development and implementation of brand new methods of surgical treatment and research into novel devices and instruments.

Kiev Clinical Hospital #6 is a medical provider within the City of Kiev. The hospital doesn’t include English translation, moreover the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine doesn’t offer any information about this institution. The presenter from this institution, Roma Birsa, is a orthopedist-traumatologist in the hospital’s Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics. There is little publicly available information in English.

The Event and Press Release

Ex-pro athlete Shevchenko and others will present an innovative, investigational-based approach in treating knee joints using placenta stem cells. The event will be held at the Institute’s medical campus and will include a press-conference.
