The achievements in the field of placenta research and patented methods of manufacturing of placental drugs are the subject of special pride of Ukrainian science. High-tech service of placenta storage with the ability to make unique extractive drugs and isolation of stem cells from it, in Ukraine has been available for 15 years on the basis of the Institute of Cell Therapy, while even in developed countries, only a few biobanks can offer pacenta cryoconservation.
The achievements of Ukrainian placentalologists have been repeatedly awarded by the International Federation of Placenta Associations (USA, 2016, YW Loke New Investigator Award and United Kingdom, 2017, Elsevier Award) and the International Placenta Stem Cells Society (Spain, 2014). The holders of the awards are the associates of the Institute of Cell Therapy Cryobank.
In 2018, the cooperation between the Institute of Cell Therapy, Shevchenko National University, the Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics of NAS of Ukraine and the Institute of Genetic and Regenerative Medicine of NAMS of Ukraine resulted in the following scientific article based on the results of the study of placenta stem cells application in the treatment of colon cancer, published in the international peer reviewed journal Oncology Letters (1.6). Previous manuscripts of this group of authors have been published in such recognized international scientific journals as Placenta (2017, impact factor – 2.8), Experimental and Therapeutic Medicine (2016, 2017, impact factor – 1.56).
It is worth noting that far not every scientific team in Ukraine or in developed countries can impress by the publications in such prestigious scientific journals, taking into account the precision and duration of review process of the submitted papers by independent experts.
