Association of Cryobanks supports World Breastfeeding Week

In recent years, the great attention of scientists is attracted by one more source of stem cells, the most romantic one, this is breast milk.

Numerous professional associations of pediatricians, neonatologists, and nutritionists have for a long time considered breast milk to be a perfectly balanced food for a child in the first 6 months of life. It is also well known that during breastfeeding the child receives from the mother immunoglobulins G and beneficial microflora. And given to recent research the scientists have found the presence of special populations of progenitor cells, which can belong to stem cells, in the breast milk. The latter are able to pass through the mucous membranes of the digestive tract of the baby and may serve as additional maternal support for the development of the child.

Every year worldwide, from August 1 to August 7, World Breastfeeding Week

Is held. This public campaign to raise women’s awareness on the importance of breast milk for baby’s health is based and coordinated by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action. World Breastfeeding Week is supported by UNESCO and the World Health Organization.

Research results show that 595,379 childhood deaths each year in the age of 6 and 59 months from diarrhea and pneumonia are associated with a lack of breastfeeding. 974,956 cases of obesity in children every year worldwide are associated with a lack of breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding would prevent 98,243 cases of death of women from breast and ovarian cancer, and the economic effect of preventing these diseases due to lactation would be $ 1 billion a year.
